I received a call one day by a gentleman with a 2005 Maserati Quattroporte. He was referred to us by a local company we do business with often and wanted information on a tune for his vehicle. The 2005 Maserati Quattroporte comes equipped with a Ferrari/Fiat built 4.2 liter engine from the factory.
This engine in stock form produces 394 Horsepower and 333 foot pounds of torque at the flywheel. On this particular vehicle the power ended up being 344 horsepower and the torque ended up at 290 foot pounds, about a 10-15% loss through the drivetrain. The Maserati Quattroporte tuning increases horsepower, torque, and throttle response all the way across the board. On the later year Quattroporte’s we also have the ability to increase the exhaust volume. From the factory these vehicles come with valves in the mufflers that quiet the exhaust volume after the car shifts out of 2nd gear. When we tune these vehicles we can program the computer to command that these valves stay open. This will make the vehicle sound more aggressive and sportier (like a Ferrari engine should sound) while cruising around town or passing on the freeway. After tuning this car we were able to increase the power to to 376 Horsepower and 327 Torque. In the image below you can see the gain was prevalent throughout the entire RPM range. Along with the tune we also installed a BMC air filter to increase air flow to the engine.
